To view the patents available on this site you must have a TIFF image browser plugin. We recommend AlternaTIFF.  If you are having difficulty with other plugins (e.g. Quicktime) interfering with the plugin that you would like to use, check out the Alternatiff FAQ.  Please ensure that your tiff viewer is working before you attempt to download patents.

Thank you for visiting us over the last several years. For a long time our service was the only one which served whole patents for free. Now you can easily find them at Google. So our search now redirects there. If there were any services on this site that Google does not handle well please let us know. Thanks for sticking with us through the years,

The US Patent Search Team

US Patent Search is the first site on the internet that allows you to download full issued patents and patent applications for FREE!  We offer both PDF's and TIFF's.  Just enter the patent number (e.g. 5146636, D263515, PP8902, 2003/12345, or 20030012345) and you are on your way.  Please allow 15 seconds per page.

Don't know which patents you want?  Try searching for the particular patent number at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  If you don't know how to search for patents (we admit it is a bit tough at times) we have written a patent search tutorial.

Patent It Yourself from Nolo Press is a book for Do-It-Yourselfers for understanding the patenting process of the USPTO.  It is the world's bestselling patent book, recommended by patent attorneys, inventors, librarians and journalists.  You, as an independent inventor, can save yourself thousands of dollars in patent attorney fees if you use this book.  Buy.com is the cheapest place to buy it.
